Sanger Launches Workforce Grant to Strengthen Career & Technical Education

Sanger, Texas – In a bold move to prepare students for high-demand industries and ensure a stronger future workforce, the Sanger Industrial Development Corporation (SIDC) has partnered with the Sanger Education Foundation and Sanger ISD to launch the Sanger Workforce Achievement Grant (SWAG).
This $234,075 investment directly supports Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs across the district, giving students access to real-world training in key fields like automotive technology, business marketing, and cosmetology.
Why SWAG Matters
In today’s job market, hands-on skills and industry certifications matter more than ever. With 15 CTE programs, 80 courses, and 33 certifications already in place, Sanger ISD is ahead of the curve—but SWAG takes it a step further.
By enhancing key programs and building stronger industry ties, the grant ensures that students are not only graduating with diplomas but with the credentials and experience needed to step confidently into the workforce.
🔧 Automotive Technology: Reimagined
The former Sanger Middle School gym will be transformed into a fully equipped automotive training facility. This expansion prepares students for careers in transportation, logistics, and distribution—industries that are growing fast across Texas.
💼 Business Marketing: Tomorrow’s Entrepreneurs
A new business marketing curriculum will center around entrepreneurship, branding, and graphic design, giving students a competitive edge in launching their own ventures or contributing to established businesses.
💇♀️ Cosmetology: More Access, More Careers
SWAG funds will also create an in-house cosmetology center, eliminating the need for travel to NCTC. This triples the program’s capacity, allowing more students to pursue certifications and hands-on practice right at home.
Building Stronger Student-Business Connections
Beyond facilities and curriculum, SWAG promotes real-world readiness through:
-
Mentorship programs
-
Internships with local businesses
-
On-site services for the public (such as auto repair and salon services)
-
Job placement support
This collaborative effort also allows students to serve the Sanger community while gaining experience under the supervision of certified professionals.

“Our students deserve access to the best possible career training opportunities, and SWAG ensures they graduate with the skills and certifications needed to thrive in high-demand industries.”
