Aluminz Lands in Mount Pleasant: America’s First Zero-Landfill Aluminum Facility

A Bold Step Toward a Cleaner, Smarter Manufacturing Future
Big things are happening in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
Aluminz Corporation, a cutting-edge aluminum recovery company backed by New York–based 1V1sion Capital, has announced plans to build the nation’s first-ever zero-landfill aluminum tolling facility. This transformative project is more than a win for the company — it's a huge leap forward for sustainable manufacturing, the local economy, and America’s metal supply chain.
A Powerful Partnership for Progress
With the full support of the Mount Pleasant City Council and the Mount Pleasant Economic Development Corporation (MPEDC), Aluminz has secured a 155-acre site and signed a 30-year lease and performance agreement.
This state-of-the-art facility will not only address the aluminum industry’s massive landfill challenge — it will also serve as a model for how business, community, and sustainability can align.
“This initiative isn’t only good for Titus County and Aluminz; it will help drive growth for a wide ecosystem of partners and customers,” said Richard Mayenknecht, CEO of Aluminz.
What Makes Aluminz Different?
Aluminz is bringing zero-landfill aluminum processing to life through a scalable tolling model. Instead of letting aluminum waste (like white dross, black dross, or scrap) pile up in landfills, they recover it into high-grade, usable aluminum — drastically cutting carbon emissions in the process.
Environmental Highlights:
-
Zero-landfill operations
-
7.5 MW solar array on site
-
90% fewer greenhouse gases compared to traditional secondary aluminum production
-
~60,000 metric tons of waste diverted from landfills annually
“Our customers are our partners,” said Larry Harmon, COO of Aluminz. “We help them close the loop and meet aggressive sustainability targets.”
Local Impact: Jobs, Training, and Growth
The project is expected to create over 130 full-time jobs offering above-market wages, along with 75+ skilled construction positions.
In addition to direct employment, Aluminz will work with local technical colleges to help develop a skilled talent pipeline for years to come.
Erman Hensel, Board President of MPEDC, emphasized the regional impact:
“This announcement represents a major milestone in Mount Pleasant’s continued efforts to attract new investment and support job creation.”
Strategic Location. Smart Investment.
The Mount Pleasant site was chosen for its logistical advantages, including direct rail access to Union Pacific (UNP) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) via NETEX Rail, and proximity to Interstate 30. With 140,000 metric tons per year in aluminum conversion capacity, Aluminz is positioned to meet growing demand across a wide range of industries — from aerospace and automotive to consumer goods and renewables.
Backed by Vision
Aluminz is a portfolio company of 1V1sion Capital, a private investment firm with a focus on transformative growth in energy, infrastructure, and sustainability.
“We are pleased to partner with industry veterans to help solve the aluminum industry's landfill problem without compromising on value recovery,” said Patrick Yeghnazar, Managing Partner at 1V1sion Capital.
